The female employment rate in Turkey has never been higher. According to official statistics, the number of employed women increased by around one million.
The female employment rate in Turkey reached a new high of 30.4 percent last year. This means that around ten million women are currently employed in the country, as the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜIK) announced. The employment rate for women was around 28 percent in 2021 – with around nine million women in employment. The rate indicates what percentage of the female population of working age is employed. Between 2005 and 2022, the number of employed women in Turkey more than doubled. In 2005, around 4.7 million women were still employed nationwide, which corresponds to an employment rate of 19.4 percent. Experts see the new incentive mechanisms as a main reason for the steady increase in the employment rate of women in the Turkish labor market.
