Sun Express wants to fly three million passengers from German-speaking countries to Turkish beaches in 2018. The boss explains why this is more worthwhile than flying to the Spanish islands. For an airline whose main activity is to bring tourists from Germany to Antalya – it should have gone badly with holiday bookings during the turbulent times of German-Turkish relations. But Jens Bischof, the CEO of Sun Express, suggests that the record turnover, despite everything, is higher than in previous years. So there is no trace of crisis. “The decisive point in our strategy was that we were betting against the trend,” says Bishop in an interview with F.A.Z. “While others retreated, we significantly expanded our capacity by keeping our heads cool in last-minute bookings.” Sun Express reported full planes in connection with Antalya flights: more than 83 percent of all seats of society were occupied throughout the year.
