Also on this subject it is time again to give correct information. From various sources, the impression is created that as a foreigner a residency permit (the so-called Ikamet) is required to buy a property. This is, of course, complete nonsense! The purchase of real estate and the Ikamet have nothing to do with each other.
The only connection that exists between them is that if you own a property, you are entitled to an Ikamet. One does not get it automatically with a property document (Tapu): it has to be applied for. This is a formal process in which we advise our clients professionally.
