The Turkish economy is showing itself to be strong

The companies on the Bosporus are doing better than expected. If the pandemic has really hit an industry globally, it will probably be aviation. The Turkish airline Turkish Airlines still surprised with a profit in the first quarter, although analysts had expected red numbers. The situation is similar for many other companies on the Bosporus. The rest of the Turkish economy also appeared to be doing well earlier this year. The country’s gross domestic product grew by seven percent in the first quarter, as the Turkish Statistics Institute (Tüik) announced on Monday. Analysts had expected 6.3 percent. In the USA, the economy grew by 6.4 percent in the same period, while the German economy shrank by 1.8 percent. The Turkish economy also grew by 1.7 percent compared to the previous quarter at the end of 2020. The economy on the Bosporus is thus continuing its trend from the 2020 pandemic of leaving all G20 countries except China behind in terms of economic growth.
