1900 year old footprints


Excavations at Stratonikeia, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List and known as the “City of Gladiators,” is also one of the largest marble cities in the world, began in 1977 and have continued throughout the year.
The ancient city contains important artifacts important to the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, as well as the Anatolian principalities, the Ottoman and the Republican periods.
In particular, footprints from around 1900 years ago were found on the bricks used for the vault in the Roman-era ruins. It was even discovered that they were the footprints of three different children aged 2-3.
Previously, various depictions had been found on bricks and bricks, but this was the first time such a footprint had been encountered. These footprints point in different directions. The work there continues. In fact, the baths were built in Roman times. The sewage drainage system is still working. When it rains, water flows into the old sewers as if they were built today.
